Crosswind Simulation Facility (SWG)

The Crosswind Simulation Facility (SWG) of the DLR Göttingen is a closed-circuit low-speed wind tunnel with a maximum flow velocity of 65 m/s.

Key technical parameters

Test section

2.4 m x 1.6 m x 9 m (W x H x L)

Fan power

0.5 MW

The test section is subdivided into four different segments with optical access from both sides enabling the application of optical measurement techniques. The second segment is equipped with a splitter plate installed on a turntable for investigations of cross wind effects on ground-vehicle aerodynamics.
